Lychee is a small oval, heart-shaped or nearly round fruit, covered by a leathery rind or pedicarp which is pink to strawberry-red in color and rough in texture. The edible part of the fruit is a pearly white to grayish or pinkish and juicy fibrous mass. Care is taken to derive the pulp from firm, sound and ripe lychee fruit.
