Expanded polystyrene, (Thermocole) is a lightweight, rigid, plastic insulation material produced from solid beads of polystyrene. Expansion is achieved by virtue of small amounts of pantone gas dissolved into the polystyrene base material during production. The gas expands under the action of heat, applied as steam to form perfectly closed cells of EPS. EPS beads are then moulded into appropriate forms suited to their application.EPS has a very low rate of thermal conductivity, which ensures the products at a stable temperature. It is an excellent cushioning material, protecting fragile products from shock, vibration or damage. EPS is lightweight, odourless, non-toxic and 100% recyclable. It mainly comes in the form of thermocole blocks, sheets, moulding, beads etc. The outstanding shock absorbency of expanded polystyrene packaging ensures the protection of a broad range of products.
