Rotating Plug Steam Traps
Working Principle VOLFRAM float controlled steam traps operate based on the rotary slide valve principle. These float controlled steam traps sense the density difference between vapor and condensate. As the incoming condensate reaches the trap body the condensate level rises so does the float. Due to the movement of the float the rotary valve is able to turn and open the outlet port and the condensate is discharged. Now as the level of condensate falls so does the float and the rotary valve turns and closes the outlet port. With this type of operation the condensate is discharged continuously.

The Samson make Type 41-23 self-operated universal pressure reducing regulator is a standard size regulator (1/2" - 4") designed to work in all general industrial applications. A pressure reducing valve is used for controlling the downstream pressure (p2) to an adjusted set point. The design of a pressure reducing regulator valve is to close when the downstream pressure rises above a set value.These valves are self-operated in that the downstream pressure being controlled is tapped downstream of the Pressure Reducing Valve and transmitted via a control line to the operating diaphragm of the Type 41-23 where it is converted into a positioning force.
