Due to the centrifugal forces,dust parcisles are carried to the surroundings. Pushing the gas to inward from the backward crastes a vortex. The air is separated from the dust particle, which are forced downwards along a spiral way because of frictionof the air against the wall. Cyclone Separators are normally used for collecting various types of Coarsed dust particles, in which dust laden gas enters a cylindrical chamber Tangentially at one or more points and leaves through a central opening. The dust particals by virtue of its intia, will tend to move towards the outside Wall from which it led into a receiver. The Cyclone is made of sheet Steel (M.S or SS).

Essentially the function of a cyclone separator is to remove the majority of the dust and debris from the air stream that carries it. It does this by introducing the dust filled air to the cyclone chamber via an inlet mounted tangentially to the cylinder at the top. This causes the air and dust to circulate around the outside of the container, and as such centrifugal forces keeps the particulate matter to the outside edges. The cyclone profile forces the air stream and dust particles down into the conical shaped container where the cone shape creates a cyclone with higher centrifugal air speed. This higher air speeds in the cone will throw the dust particles, both large and small, off to the side and the clean air is vented out.

In Rotary Dryer application this is the most widely used type of dust collection equipment, in which dust-laden gas from the rotary dryers enters a cylindrical or conical chamber tangentially at one or more points and leaves through a central opening . The dust particles, by virtue of their inertia, will tend to move toward the outside separator wall, from which they are led into a receiver. A cyclone is essentially a settling chamber in which gravitational acceleration is replaced by centrifugal acceleration. At operating conditions in rotary dryers commonly employed, the centrifugal separating force or acceleration may range from 5 times gravity in very large diameter.
