Goddess Durga is worshipped across the country and Durga Puja is one of the most popular festivals for the people of North India (especially people of Bengal). Her idols are worshipped for three days and then immersed in water bodies. The goddess was created out of the combined powers and forces of all gods and goddesses to eliminate Mahishasur, the demon who wrought havoc on Earth and heaven.
