Bostwick Consistometer is the preferred choice for measuring consistency and flow rate in a variety of products. You can use the "Bostwick" on any viscous material such as sauces, salad dressings, paints, chemicals or cosmetics. The normal way to use the Consistometer is to measure the distance a sample flows in a given time interval. Product Description: The "Bostwick" is a long trough with 0.5 cm graduations along the bottom. The trough is separated near one end by a spring loaded gate. This forms a chamber where the sample is loaded. To perform a test, first a sample is loaded, then the gate is opened and a timer is started. At a predetermined time the position of the sample in the trough is recorded. The question is frequently asked about recommendations for standards on products. Each of our customers sets their own standards and operating procedures based on the individual characteristics of their products. The "Bostwick" also complies with the procedures established in Mill Spec R-81294D and ASTM F1080-93. The "Bostwick" Consistometer is built for ease of operation and heavy duty use. Bostwick Consistometer is made of stainless steel 304 grade . It has two chambers . One for keeping the sauces and other for reading the result. These chambers are separated by the gate . First chamber has the dimension of 3 inch x 3 inch x 3 inch and other chamber has 3 inch width and in lenght it is 24 cms and at every half centimeter it is marked. In height it is taper. Gate sliding is done with the help of springs and gate is locked with the help of lever. There are two level screws at the end of Bostwick Consistometer and in the front one water level is attached . One extra water level is also provided with this apparatus for keeping in the long chamber and level the apparatus with help of level screws. First of all press the gate and lock the gate with the help of lever and put the sauce in the small cahmber. Approximately 500 ml sauce comes in this chamber. You can put sauce according to your measurements. Now unlock the gate by pressing the lever down and see how much sauce cover the distance in 30 seconds. This is the reading of consistency of sauce. This is tested in our lab and found the result correctly.
