This test unit has been designed to generate a wide range of optical output signals. Flame sensors for fire detection and flame monitoring applications can be activated and tested.Most optical flame sensors respond to Ultra Violet (UV) and or InfraRed (IR) radiation emitted from flames during combustion. Many sensors also use flame flicker techniques to distinguish between flames and other optical false sources.The test unit simulates the flickering flame signal by modulating the output of a filament lamp. The thermal time constant of a filament lamp prevents the generation of a perfect flame flicker signal. The slow response of the filament lamp will mean that some flame sensors many require more time to activate under test than they would with a real flame.

Audio notification is provided by hooters, PA system and voice annunciation procedures. Special RS-485 based repeaters and mimic panels are available for alphanumeric annunciation of zone names.

The Fire•Lite InnovairFlex D355PL intelligent non-relay photo- electric duct smoke detector and DNRW watertight non-relay photoelectric duct smoke detector feature a pivoting housing that fits both square and rectangular footprints capable of mounting to a round or rectangular duct. DNRW duct smoke detector, with its NEMA-4 rating, is listed as a watertight, UV resistant enclosure providing protection against falling dirt, rain, and windblown dust, splashing and hose directed water, allowing operators to use the detector in the most extreme environments. These units sense smoke in the most challenging conditions, operating in airflow speeds of 100 to 4,000 feet per minute, tem- peratures of -4 degrees F to 158 degrees F, and a humidity range of 0 to 95 percent (non-condensing.) An improved cover design isolates the sensor head, which allows for ease of maintenance. A cover tamper feature indi- cates a trouble signal for a removed or improperly installed sen- sor cover. The Fire•Lite  InnovairFlex housing provides a 3/4- inch conduit knockout and ample space to facilitate easy wiring and mounting of a relay module. The Fire•Lite InnovairFlex duct smoke detector can be custom- ized to meet local codes and specifications without additional wiring.
