Otherwise, for every reduction of 0.01 from 0.85 up to 0.75 PENALTY is 1% and below 0.75 it is 1.5% from 0.85 of the Current Consumption Charges (KWh) on your Electric Bill. INCENTIVE is also given by the Electricity Board when the PF is maintained above 0.90 @ 0.5 % for every increment of 0.01 on your Electric Bill.   HOW TO MAINTAIN THE POWER FACTOR? According to the load pattern, proper Capacity of Capacitors to be connected. The value of the capacitors to be connected will vary with respect to the load and its existing PF. There are two ways to maintain PF 1. Fixing the capacitors permanently at the load end or at the mains, generally which is recommended for the fixed loads like Pumps, fans etc., and it is not possible for the loads which have variations in the load and PF. 2.
