It is essential to carry out screening of diodes out of the strip particularly for reverse breakdown test at acceptable leakage current in µA. To take out diodes one by one and conduct tests will be a time consuming and fatigue prone process. The risk of DC high voltage for an operator is always there.Tester has motor driven geared mechanism to pull strip of diodes with test riders applying reverse voltage on the leads. Whenever leakage current exceeds than the acceptable limit, the motor comes to halt with audio/visual trip indication. Test voltage is removed. Operator has to take out the faulty diode and continue with the further testing.

The Ground Continuity Test is performed by measuring the resistance between the third pin (ground) and outside metal body of the product under test. The maximum acceptable value is generally 0.1 ohm. This test is generally carried out at a slightly higher current (e.g. 30A) so that the ground bond circuit maintains safe voltages on the chassis of the product, even at a high current, before the circuit breaker trips or fuse blows. This test is essential so that the product does not cause an electric shock resulting from insulation failure.
