Available in 1 to 25 HP for chemical mixing and blending coagulants, neutralization and general purpose mixing. When used for flocculation, the unit has extremely high circulation capacity up to 25 times the feed rate. It consists of rectangular tubes / plates, which is placed at an inclination with respect to horizontal. When the wastewater is allowed to pass through the tubes/plates, water tends to move-up while the solids naturally move down because of gravity. The settled solid is collected in the sludge pit at bottom of the tank and it is taken to the sludge treatment units. The most preferred clarifiers are circular ones as they require less maintenance and sludge removal is faster and higher removal efficiencies can be extracted. Lamella clarifiers maximize the particle settling by the use of inclined lamella parallel plates to increase the settling surface area. Influent first enters the clarifier through the flash mix tank where it is rapidly mixed with a polymer flocculants to allow the particles to separate from the water and coagulate into larger particles. Then the water enters a slow mix chamber which gently agitates the waterpolymer mix and further increases the particle size. The water flows down a settling chamber in the center channel of the clarifier and enters the plate packs through the sides and bottom. As the water flows up the plate packs the solids settle on the plate packs and slide into the sludge hopper at the bottom of the unit. The clean water at the top of the unit enters into flumes through orifices then flow to the outlet chamber.
