The test rig provides the study of a Diesel engine performance. The rig comprises of a four stroke 4 cylinder Diesel engine coupled to a rope brake dynamometer / electrical dynamometer or Eddy Current Dynamometer. In rope brake dynamometer a water-cooled brake drum along with spring ba1ances, comprises rope brake. For Electrical dynamometer rheostat/load bank is used as loading arrangement. The ‘Swarg Systems & Instruments’ test rig consists of axial flow impeller, driven by electric motor. The impeller is housed in the casing, which sucks water directly from sump. A pressure gauge on discharge side measures the delivery head. A venturi alongwith mercury manometer measures the discharge. Input to motor is measured on energymeter thus the discharge, head & input can be measured & characteristics of pump can be determined at various heads.
