The ‘Swarg Systems & Instruments’ test rig consists of axial flow impeller, driven by electric motor. The impeller is housed in the casing, which sucks water directly from sump. A pressure gauge on discharge side measures the delivery head. A venturi alongwith mercury manometer measures the discharge. Input to motor is measured on energymeter thus the discharge, head & input can be measured & characteristics of pump can be determined at various heads. The unit is available in constant speed & variable speed type. SPECIFICATIONS Axial flow pump – Propeller type axial flow impeller housed in casing. Suction & discharge size 4”x4”. Sump tank – 200 liters capacity. Drive motor – 1 HP 2800 rpm 3 ph AC motor, or 1 HP 3000 rpm d. c. motor. 4 NB piping with valve to control head. Energymeter for motor input measurement. Pressure gauge for head measurement. Orifice meter & mercury manometer for discharge measurement.

The present set-up consists of a scroll casing housing a runner. Water enters the turbine through the stationary guide vanes and passes through the runner axially. The runner has a hub and airfoil vanes, which are mounted on it. The water is fed to the turbine by means of Centrifugal Pump. The runner is directly mounted on one end of a central SS shaft and other end is connected to a brake arrangement. A transparent hollow cylinder made of acrylic is fitted in between the draft tube and the casing for observation of flow. Load is applied to the turbine with the help of rope brake arrangement so that the efficiency of the turbine can be calculated. The set-up is supplied with control panel. A draft tube is fitted on the outlet of the turbine. The set-up is complete with guide mechanism. Pressure and Vacuum gauges are fitted at the inlet and outlet of the turbine to measure the total supply head on the turbine.

Description: The Window AC test rig is designed and manufactured such that the students can understand construction and working of a window type air conditioner and conduct the trial on it to evaluate performance of the same. The window AC is fixed in a rigid angle frame, with its cover cut half open to reveal the internal parts of the AC. The required pressure and temperature tapings are drawn for measurement of pressures and temperatures at salient points. Energy meter is provided for recording compressor energy consumption. A sling psychrometer is provided for measurement of inlet and outlet Dry-bulb & wet bulb temperature. With the help of manometer, velocity of air and consequently the flow rate of air can be determined.
